Anyway, I haven't updated my journal in a long time. I'd like to open by stating:

I recently got back into subeta. Probably a terrible mistake, but /anyway/!

The first few days I was back things were going pretty nicely; I snagged both Fred Weasley and George Weasley as pet names along with a couple others I adore. Built up a new avatar. Held an art auction that fetched 25mil.

Then this layout.

It's not the layout that I'm going to complain about (although I have to say that I absolutely HATE IT).

It's the responses it's getting.

There are the general pleased users saying, "omg its gr8!"

There are the usual ass-kissers saying, "OMG KEITH UR SO HOTT I LUV THIS LAYOUT /LEGHUMP"

There are the usual grouches saying, "FUCK THIS. FUCKING NEOPETS. AGHAKHGA"

Then there are people who take it to a completely different level.

Yes, those grouches are rude. Yes, they should probably at least say WHY they hate it. Yes, they could use some tact.

But does that make it okay to post shit like, "IF UR SO AFRAID OF CHANGE Y DON'T YOU GO LISTEN TO UR 8-TRACKS" or "IF U DON'T LIKE IT SHUT UP OR LEAVE" or "IF IT REMINDS U OF NEO SO MUCH Y DONT U JUST STOP BEING ADDICTED TO NEOPETS?"

This is why I took an extremely long hiatus in the first place - people are such ass hats on subeta. Some of them take ass-kissing and 'lack of common courtesy' to a whole new level.

I'm also kind of pissed at Keith, who, instead of actually taking the grouches' complaints seriously, responded fairly childishly to one of them. I've never like Keith; I've always thought he was a bit of a butthole, to be honest. But this? This is ridiculous.

The new layout's "fluidity" looks horrible on big screens. It crashes slow computers. It freezes browsers. It requires that you allow a billion types of javascript to even navigate. It's ridiculously laggy. It's awkward. It's annoying.

Yes, it's pretty. Yes, you have those "OMG TTLLY KEWL!!!!111" widgets on the side bar. Yes, it has a larger variety of layouts/color schemes.

But it's not practical.

I'm pretty sure I'll be giving back the 25mil from the art auction because I honestly don't think I'll be able to play subeta at home anymore and I don't think I'll want the SP enough to stick around and do four pictures - I've got a ridiculously old computer and dial-up, so it's looking pretty damn impossible.

Subeta was never my favorite pet site, what with Keith's ridiculous attitude about anything besides, "OMG I LUV IT! I LUV U! /LEGHUMP" but this community response... this response from Keith himself... it's just horrendous.

It's terrible that all this had to happen right after my auction. The person who won is amazing and she's one of the nicest people I've met there - we did a custom item trade before I temporarily quit the first time - and I'd really like to finish the commission... but I don't do free art and I honestly don't know if I'm going to want to play subeta anymore. :/
